SIDO SCHOOL
Host families
and schools
Carefully selected host families and accredited schools, coordinated and overseen by SIDO.

How host families are selected
Screening steps
Host families are reviewed through a structured intake process that includes interviews, background checks, and verification of household members. Only families who meet SIDO’s requirements and agree to ongoing oversight are considered.
Home standards
Homes must meet basic safety, cleanliness, and living space standards appropriate for long-term student placement. Students are placed in private residences with defined sleeping arrangements and access to shared living areas.
Communication expectations
Host families are expected to maintain regular communication with SIDO and respond promptly when concerns arise. Participation includes check-ins, coordination around school matters, and cooperation if adjustments are required.
Safety boundaries
Non-negotiable rules apply to all host families, including clear boundaries around supervision, privacy, transportation, and household conduct. When standards are not met, SIDO intervenes and, if necessary, initiates a change in placement.
What daily life looks like

Time outside school is structured around normal activities, local outings, and age-appropriate independence.

Students participate in everyday activities with peers, balancing school responsibilities and time outside the home.

Students live in private homes with defined personal space and clear household expectations.
Daily structure
School days follow the schedule set by the host family and school. Students attend classes during regular school hours and return to the host home afterward. Meals, transportation, and household routines are defined in advance by the host family. Study time and school responsibilities are expected to be managed consistently, with house rules communicated clearly at the start of the placement.
Freedom and independence
Students are given age-appropriate independence within clear boundaries set by the host family and school. Personal time, social activities, and outings are permitted according to local rules, school policies, and host family expectations. Independence is balanced with accountability, communication, and integration into daily family life rather than unrestricted autonomy.
